about
The song is dedicated to our friend Christian Smukal, whose passing is a great loss for us.
At first, we were somehow perplexed. Being offered so much support and enthusiasm by somebody we had only met once or twice. „Guys, if you don’t find a record label, I will set one up and call it Droneburg Records.“ We were not sure if Christian was serious or if he was just trying to encourage us after some white whine spritzers. Yet, a few months later, we were unpacking our debut Album. Droneburg Records #1.
Somebody showing up and telling you: „I love your music, let’s start a record label.“ Maybe this is what most people starting a band as a teenager are dreaming about. Christian did exactly that for us. Like the drone metal version of a good fairy.
We carry on as a band. But things will be different. No more “Was macht eigentlich die Gruppe Ur?“, Christian’s mandatory question coming in every few months. No more eager waiting for his response after he has been the first person to hear our new songs. But having known him and being involved in his orbit will always be a part of what we do going forward. Thank you for all the lessons. For being that warm hearted person. Setting an example for seeking and igniting the good parts in each other.
You have made an enormous difference for us and it means an awful lot. We’ll miss you.

lyrics
Flaring up,
Then down
The other in me,
The timeless
Undying stone
Brooding on the secret
Become the mountain
Turn to the stone
Succumb gravity
Descend
Adrift beneath blustering waves
Sheltered
Rigid and unwavering
Perpetuate
To cease and to renew
Through seasons and tides,
I am
Only
Passing
Bursting
Flaring up
Then Dying down
The other in me,
The timeless,
Undying stone

It plunges me into an abyss of sound that's both harrowingly dark and profound, a sonic deepness that swallows light and breathes out an engulfing, cathartic darkness. lecassette8

You know that point where you have consumed perhaps just a little too much of your chosen intoxicate. That's this album.
